IT Training

Is IT Training Needed to Get a Job? How to Plan it?

In IT undergrad and post-graduate courses, one broadly learns a lot of things, but not a particular technology in depth. As far as IT industry is concerned, you need to be a specialized professional to be considered for a job.

We can see that there is no job titles as a graduate fresher or post-graduate, but specific IT jobs are like PHP Developer, Java Developer, Software Tester, Web Designer, Windows System Administrator, SEO specialist and more. A college graduate will not be able to immediately match their candidature with any of these profiles.

So taking a specialized IT Training is needed now to get an IT job and most of those who come out of college already know it.

How to plan IT training?

Go to any places in India, you will find plenty of ‘so called’ IT training centers everywhere. The top floor of all shopping complex you come across may be an IT training institute. You know why? It is top floor of a shopping complex available at the cheapest floor rental rates.

You then take the whole flight of stairs to get inside and meet an energetic student counselor. He or she will tell you that the training offered to you will be a life-changing affair. Then “a job after training?100% guaranteed.

Think logically, if it is the case as everyone who get out of college join a random shopping complex training institute and pay a sum to take a course and get a job, where is the scope of unemployment?

Believe me, 100% job guarantee is the No.1 marketing gimmick training business institutes use to lure you. It will not work that way.

The best any of these traditional training institute can offer is placement assistance, in which they may be able to send you to various IT companies for interviews. But for that too, you need ‘employability’ to convince a potential employer to take you in.

Employability is the first-hand experience, knowledge, skills you have in the particular IT specialty you learned, i.e., programming, testing, web designing, technical administration, digital marketing, database administration and so.

Unfortunately, most of these typical shopping-complex training institutes cannot make you employable with the meager IT infrastructure and facilities they have, inexperienced trainers (trainer at majority of places is simply someone from immediate previous batch), offering just theoretical, outdated syllabus-based training.

Never end up at a typical IT training institute simply by falling prey to the placement assurance bait.

A few things to check before choosing IT Training

Don’t – Blindly get into typical shopping complex business training institutes.

Do – Try to get an opportunity in a functional IT firm, offering on-job, real-time training in IT specialties you are interested in.

Do – Ensure the skills and level of experience of trainer by seeing his/her profile or talking directly and see the infrastructure of the institute.
