Course Contents

Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) is considered to be the “basic” Red Hat certification. This course relates to Red Hat® Enterprise Linux® 7. Red Hat System Administration I (RH124) is designed for IT professionals without previous Linux administration experience.

Course Overview

Red Hat System Administration provides a foundation for students wishing to become full-time Linux system administrators by introducing key command line concepts and other enterprise-level tools. These concepts are further developed in the follow-on course, Red Hat System Administration I (RH124), Red Hat System Administration II (RH134).

Audience

IT professionals across a broad range of disciplines who need to perform essential Linux administration tasks including installation, establishing network connectivity, managing physical storage, and basic security administration.

Prerequisites

Here are no formal prerequisites for this course; however, previous operating system administration experience will be very beneficial.

Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) known as “King of Linux certifications” proves the eligibility of candidates on live systems. RHCE certification proves your ability to configure networking services and security on servers running Red Hat Enterprise Linux.

RHCE is a mid-level certification for administrators who support Linux as a primary server platform in their environment.

RHCE is designed for experienced Linux administrators who require networking and security administration skills.

Course overview

The course is focused on deploying and managing network servers running caching Domain Name Service (DNS), MariaDB, Apache HTTPD, Postfix SMTP nullclients, network file sharing with Network File System (NFS) and Server Message Block (SMB), iSCSI initiators and targets, advanced networking and firewalld configurations, and the use of Bash shell scripting to help automate, configure, and troubleshoot the system.

Audience

RHCE is intended for experienced Linux administrators wishing to learn enterprise-level automation techniques through scripting, how to deploy and secure network services, and how to manage other key security features of Red Hat Enterprise Linux. Students in this course should have earned their RHCSA or have equivalent skills.

Prerequisites
  • RHCSA certification or equivalent experience
  • For candidates who have not earned their RHCSA certification, confirmation of the correct skills and knowledge can be obtained by passing the online skills assessment.



The modules covered under RHCE certification training are;

  • 2. Working with RPMs, and YUM
  • 3. Configuring an iSCSI initiator and targets
  • 4. Producing and delivering reports on system utilization using shell scripting to automate system maintenance tasks

  • 6. Configuring a system to provide networking services, including HTTP/HTTPS, FTP, NFS, SMB, SMTP, SSH, and NTP etc
  • 7. Managing Flexible storage with the Logical Volume Manager(LVM)
  • 8. Database administration using MariaDB
  • 9. Manage Virtual machines
  • 10. Network user Accounts with LDAP
